Roots & Shoots Youth Program
Established in 1991, Roots & Shoots is a program created to inspire young people to become active in their communities. Through this program, youth identify challenges their neighborhoods face, develop solutions, and take action. Roots & Shoots eventually spread to the United States and Europe in 1993. Today, the Roots & Shoots network has blossomed into over 150,000 members in more than 130 countries, all working on important service projects. Anyone can start their own community project through this program, and they range from planting trees to rescuing homeless animals.
“There is a powerful force unleashed when young people resolve to make a change.” Dr. Jane Goodall- English zoologist & ethologist (1934 - )
